The Man Mahal is a treat visually for tourists who come to the city of Pushkar in Rajasthan. The palace is believed to be the biggest royal home built in the city. The structure looks very impressive on sight and is full of Rajasthani architecture.
The palace is located very close to another famous attraction of the city of Pushkar, the sacred Sarovar Lake. It is to the east of the lake and provides clear and breath-taking views of many temples around the lake as well its banks.
The palace had been built to serve as a city guest house for Raja Man Singh I. This was to be primarily used by the King when he would visit the holy city of Pushkar. The palace would also be used by other family members during their visits to the holy town. The palace has currently been converted into a luxury heritage hotel and is maintained by the state development corporation for tourism. The hotel is a favourite with tourists since it has maintained much of the old look as well as Rajasthani era features.
The average charges in room rent per night here range 1500 to 4000 rupees. Various luxury facilities like swimming pool, spa and variety dining options apart from usual facilities like travel help desk, in house laundry etc., are available here. Some other favourites of tourists are to visit the Pushkar cattle fair, visit Pushkar lake and even go for camel rides.
HOW TO REACH
Man Mahal can be reached using a taxi and is located centrally. If one wishes to reach by road there are many luxuries and general bus services available from Ajmer. Further, Pushkar is also reachable using rail since the Ajmer railway station is very nearby, around 15 Kms. Away and provides connectivity to major stations in cities such as Jaipur, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Agra, Pali and Delhi. Further, one may also opt for a flight option. However, the nearest airport is Jaipur Airport, around 148 Kms. away and that has domestic flight connectivity from places like Mumbai and Delhi.
